Crusaders Notch First Win

Defense was the key word of the week in the six games that were played in the South Coastal Men's Hockey League. There were three shutouts, one one-goal and one two-goal allowed game in the six games that were played.

Maple Leafs score |
The most exciting finish was in the Classics division game between the Maple Leafs and the Rangers. Dave Salvaggio scored with 28 seconds left to break a 1-1 tie and give the Leafs a 2-1 win.Maple Leaf goalie Andy Pelley of Hanover had 26 saves in the game, 12 in the final period, which included one with no time left to give his team the win. Don Studley of Norwell scored for the Leafs in the second period and Mike Crisp scored the for Rangers also in the second period.

Out of time - Bruins fall short against Canadiens |
Marshfield's Glenn Harnish scored two goals including an empty-netter and Mike Fahie of Pembroke had two assists as the Canadiens held on for a 4-2 win over the Bruins in a Classics division matchup. Mike Fay added a goal and an assist and John Hernon scored a goal for the Canadiens.
Jim Reilly and Jim Martin of Hanover scored a goal each for the Bruins.
Paul Lyons of Pembroke scored a goal in the first period and goalie Vinny Trioani made it stand up as the Black Hawks stay undefeated in the Classics division with a 1-0 win over the Red Wings.

Sharks lose to Saints 2-0 |
In the battle of the two undefeated teams in the Legends division, John Thoms scored a goal and assisted on another, James McNeill scored a goal and goalie Justin Stratton of Marshfield posted a shutout in the Saints 2-0 win over the Sharks.
Nate Rasmussen of Hingham scored two goals and Scott Mondeau had two assists and goalie Mike Ireland posted the shutout in the Crusaders first win of the season by a 5-0 score over the Whalers in a Legends division matchup. Mark Kaplan, Jim Callahan and Steve O'Mara of Hanover added a goal each
for the Crusaders.

Stingers and Toros |
Chris Poudrier scored two goals and assisted on another and Pembroke's Peter Tamborella added two goals in the Stingers 6-3 Legends division win over the Toros. Paul Smyth had a goal and an assist, Pembroke's Scott Kelly scored a goal and John Scag had three assists for the Stingers. James Ward of Norwell, Paul Brinkmann and Wayne Murphy scored the goals for the Toros. |
