Three Teams Vie for Last Playoff

There are three teams that are battling for the final playoff spot in the Fall Season of the Legends division of the South Coastal Men's Hockey League with one game left.

The Whalers presently have the final playoff spot by one point over both the Toros and the Crusaders. They took over the fourth-and-final playoff spot with a 32-save performance by goalie Dan Nason as the Whalers got goals from Scituate's Steve Concannon and Kevin Mackin of Duxbury in their 2-0 win over the Toros.
The Stingers will be the Whalers final opponent as they will come off a 4-2 loss to the first-place Saints. Mike Ryan scored two goals, while both Paul Murphy and Todd Roach had a goal and an assist each for the Saints in the win. James McNeill added two assists for the Saints, who face the Cruasders in their final game of the regular season. Scott Kelly and Dave Christensen both of Pembroke had a goal and an assist each for the Stingers. Joe Murray of Norwell added two assists for the Stingers.
The Crusaders got two goals and an assist from Jim Callahan in their 4-4 tie with the Sharks. Scott Mondeau and Mike Simon were the other goal scorers for the Crusaders. Richard Petrosino of Marshfield and Jay Faherty both had a goal and an assist while Dana Dolabany of Norwell and Tim Cruz also of Marshfield had
a goal apiece for the Sharks, who face the Toros in their final regular season game.
The Classics division playoff spots are all secured as the Black Hawks, Maple Leafs, Canadiens and Bruins all qualified for the four berths.
The Maple Leafs got an 18-save performance from goalie of Andy Pelly of Hanover, while Marty DeCourcey, Steve Mudge of Marshfield and Dave Salvaggio scored the goals in their 3-0 win over the Red Wings to clinch their playoff berth.
Daron Jacobs of Hanover scored the only goal in the shoot out as the Rangers rallied from a 3-0 deficit for a 5-4 win over the Bruins. Paul LaFond of Hanover scored two goals, Marshfield's Tom Smith and Jim O'Toole had a goal each for the Rangers. O'Toole also had an assist and Joe Craig of Marshfield had two assists for the Rangers. Marshfield's John Zimmer scored two goals, Steve Anzuoni and John Dougenik added a goal each and Kevin Sullivan had two assists for the Bruins.

John Dunn scored the only goal of the shoot out as the Black Hawks pulled out a 2-1 win over the Canadiens. Abington's Jim Polito scored in the first period for the Black Hawks and Glen Harnish of Marshfield scored for the Canadiens in the second period. |
