Crusaders Win First Game
Whalers Remain Unbeaten

   The Whalers found out how tough it was to stay undefeated in the Legends division of the South Coastal Men's Hockey League. They were out shot by the Stingers, 27-13, but they rallied from a 2-0 deficit and the Whalers pulled out a 3-2 shootout come-from-behind win. Steve Concannon of Scituate tied the game with 3:19 left with a breakaway goal and scored the only goal of the shoot out for the Whalers in the win. Bill McMahon of Scituate was the other goal scorer and Dan Nason stopped 25 shots for the Whalers. Hanover's Peter MacPherson and Scott Kelly of Pembroke scored for the Stingers.
   Jack Parsons of Marshfield scored two goals and Duxbury's Brian Murphy added a goal and an assist as the Crusaders won their first game of the season with a 5-3 win over the defending Legends division champion Saints. Marshfield's Jim Donovan and Art Caron also scored for the Crusaders. Jim Callahan and Mike Ryan both had a goal and an assist while Bill Spillane scored a goal for the Saints.

   Art Riccio scored two goals and assisted on another, while Norwell's Dana Dolabany and Tom Krall of Hanover added a goal each as the Sharks pulled out a 4-2 Legends division win over the Toros. Norwell's Patrick Reynolds and Paul Brinkmann scored the goals for the Toros.
   Glenn Harnish of Marshfield had a goal and an assist and Jeff Hollstein of Pembroke stopped 19 shots in the Canadiens 4-0 Classics division win over the Rangers. Marshfield's Tom Lema, Jim Donnelly and Tim McCrystal scored a goal each and Mike Fahie of Pembroke had two assists for the Canadiens.
   Hanover's Andy Pelly stopped 18 shots and the Maple Leafs had four different goal scorers in their 4-0 Classics division win over the Black Hawks. Jim Smith of Pembroke, Mike Bartlett, Marshfield's Steve Mudge and Shawn Malloy had a goal apiece for the Leafs.
   Steve Anzuoni scored two goals and assisted on another as the Bruins held on for a 5-4 win over the Red Wings in a Classics division matchup. Both John Dougenik and Mike Martin of Pembroke had a goal and an assist and John Zimmer of Marshfield had a goal for the Bruins. Marshfield's Ron DiCecca scored two goals, Pat Burke and Ted Duggan added a goal each for the Red Wings.
