Crusaders Clinch Final Spot in Legends Division Post-Season Play

A week ago the Crusaders lost a 4-3 lead late in the game to the Sharks in their South Coastal Men's Hockey League Legends division matchup and settled for a 4-4 tie. The Crusaders made sure that they finished the job against the first-place Saints as they built a 5-1 lead after two periods and held on for a 6-4 win and clinched the final playoff spot in the Legends division after both the Whalers and the Toros lost. Jim Callahan scored two goals and assisted on two others while Mike Simon added two goals and an assist for the Crusaders, who will face the Saints again in the Legends division semi-finals. Mike Hankes and Nate Rasmussen also scored for the Crusaders, while Todd Roach led the Saints with a goal and an assist. Tom Shaughnessy of Hanover, Bill Spillane and Charles Ryan (an assist) also had goals for the Saints.

Hanover's Peter MacPherson scored a goal and assisted on two others to lead the Stingers to a 5-2 win over the Whalers. Scott Kelly of Pembroke, Norwell's Joe Murray, Chris Poudrier and Paul Smyth also scored for the Stingers, who will face the Sharks in the semi-finals. scored a goal each and Skip Tufts also of Scituate had two assists for the Whalers, who were eliminated from the Legends division playoffs.
Dana Dolabany of Norwell scored three goals, Hanover's Mike Murphy scored two goals and assisted on another, Richard Petrosino of Marshfield scored a goal and Fred Bickford also of Norwell had two assists in the Sharks' 6-2 win over the Toros. Ray Degaust scored both of the goals for the Toros, who were eliminated from the Legends division playoffs with the loss.
Jeff Gauthier and Steve Mudge of Marshfield both scored a goal and assisted on another in the Maple Leafs 4-2 win over the Black Hawks in a Classics division game. Mike Bartlett and Don Studley of Norwell added a goal each for the Maple Leafs, who will face the Bruins in the Classics division
playoffs. John Dunn and Drew Fitzgerald scored a goal each and Pat Mulkern of Pembroke had two assists for the Classics division top-seeded Black Hawks, who will face the Canadiens in the semi-finals.
Marshfield's Tim McCrystal scored a goal and assisted on another, while Mike Fahie of Pembroke, Mike Evans and Glenn Harnish also of Marshfield added a goal each to lead the Canadiens to a 4-1 win over the Rangers. Daron Jacobs of Pembroke scored the goal for the Rangers.
The Bruins got a goal and two assists from John Zimmer of Marshfield in their 4-4 tie with the Red Wings. John Dougenik scored two goals and Mike Martin added a goal for the Bruins. Ron DiCecca of Marshfield, Tom Piepenbrink, John Guilderson and Duxbury's Henry Mathews each scored a goal and Steve Figlioli added two assists for the Red Wings.
